Dream11 Restrained From Using Their Logo By Delhi High Court

The Delhi High Court has restrained fantasy sports platform, Dream11 from using their logo due to its similarity with Sporta Technologies Private Limited. Dream11 has been under scrutiny since the time tension arose between India and China due to the Sino-Indian border dispute between the two countries.

A single-judge bench took place and justice Rajiv Shakdher said that the defendant, Dream11 and all its associates, employees and agents are restrained from using the logo that is similar to the plaintiffs trademark.

The High Court also specified that Dream11 must take down all social media content that violates the terms mentioned. This was set in motion when Sporta Technologies Private Limited filed a plea. As per the plaintiff, the registration of the trademark ‘Dream11’ was obtained on 28 May, 2009 who also claim that they have been operating a website Dream11

Sporta Technologies is a private company and it was incorporated on 21 June,2007. The company works in computer related activities like maintenance of websites, creating multimedia presentations for firms etc. The court has also asserted that, “GoDaddy, LLC is directed to block the domain name dream11team.com.”

The plaintiff submitted that it is aggrieved by the actions of the defendant and that Dream11 have slavishly adopted a similar logo which has caused all the confusions. In the past, the company Dream11 had come clean about them being an Indian company. They get their funding from Chinese company Tencent, but Dream11 assured that major shares are owned by Indian companies.
