TIPS ’20: Miki Vea Garcia wins Spanish Cup, 3 Indians cash

The Indian Poker Series (TIPS) commenced on the 3rd of February in collaboration with the Spanish Poker Festival (SPF) which concluded its Day 1A and 1B starting flights. Our fellow countrymates were seen competing at the series with 4 of them who will battle it out on Day 2 of the Festival. TIPS, a creation of Jaydeep Dawer and Manish Goenka, is returning with its 3rd season to Europe’s largest casino, King’s Casino in Rozvadov, Czech Republic for a 7-day long festival. The series will begin from the 3rd to the 10th of February 2020 in collaboration with the SPF which concluded with its Day 1A and 1B starting flights. 

Day 1A of the Spanish Cup €50,000 GTD (INR 40 Lakhs) commenced with 251 entries, with a buy-in of €115 (INR 9,048). The field narrowed down to 53 survivors moving on to Day 2. Antonio Castro turned out to be the chip leader with the biggest stack on Day 1A, followed by Juan Rose Roldan and Sergio Garcia Pau rounding up the top Day 2 stacks.

Indian players were also seen appearing at the series; although Avneesh Munjal, Dawer and Himanshu Dewan were few players who were less fortunate getting eliminated on Day 1A.

Day 1B saw 401 runners gunning for the top prize, out of which 77 managed to survive the intense grinding session. Zhong Chen topped the list amassing the largest stack of 788,000, followed by Mario Martin with 648,000 and Steve Berdoyes with 423,000. 

Also, a total of 4 Indian players were seen qualifying to Day 2 from the previous day. Goenka and Kanishka Samant led the Indian contingent with approx. 350,000 chips each while Dawer bagged 202,000 and Dewan with 125,000 – all of whom will battle it out on Day 2 of the Spanish Cup.

UPDATE:

Spain’s Miki Vea Garcia has shipped the Spanish Cup for € 12,300 (~INR 9.63 Lakhs) after a 3-way deal. PokerBaazi‘s satellite winner Himanshu Dewan made to 15th place for €796 (~INR 62,355), another player Kanishka Samant took 94th place with €245 (~INR 19,191), and Manish Goenka was eliminated at 71st place for €278 (~INR 21,779), while Jaydeep Dawer was busted before ITM.
